NEW.Mech 2011
New England Workshop on the
Mechanics of Materials and Structures
1st October 2011
Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Registration deadline, 15th September, 2011!
The New England Workshop on the Mechanics of Materials and Structures, NEW.Mech, will be held at MIT, Cambridge, MA on October 1st, 2011.
NEW.Mech is a one-day workshop that aims to bring together the New England Mechanics community with an interest in exploring new directions on the Mechanics of Soft Materials and Structures and share the latest advancements in the field.
Workshop format:
This workshop will consist of four plenary invited talks, a number of contributed talks (5-minutes) and a poster session.
We invite you to submit titles and abstracts for the 4-minute contributed talks and posters, through the registration page. Depending on the number of submissions, there may be a limit on the number of contributed talks per research group. Submission of posters is encouraged as there will be an extended dedicated session to present them during lunch time.
The day will begin with breakfast and registration from 9:00 - 10:00 AM (with the first talk starting at 10:00 AM) and end in the afternoon. Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments will be served.
Given scheduling constraints we will select 32 of the communications for contributed talks and the remainder for the extended poster session during lunch time. This poster session will be an excellent opportunity to be able to discuss in detail your research with the rest of the participants, over a tasty bite to eat. Moreover, there will be a poster competition to award the best posters.
